A water softener is used to remove calcium, magnesium, disolved iron, disolved manganese, and other heavy metals from water, making it soft. A few of the benefits of a water softener are:
- Reduction of the amount of detergent used in washing machines and dishwashers
- Hair and skin will feel smoother and less dry
- Less lime scale buildup on appliances, water heating elements, sinks, tubs, and toilets
